Sky UK Limited, formerly known as BSkyB Limited, has released its latest financial results revealing a huge increase in on-demand and mobile viewing figures.

 

Thanks to shows such as Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Grey’s Anatomy, customers made over 300 million on-demand downloads during the three month period from January to March 2015.

 

Sky boxsets alone delivered 100 million downloads views during the same three month period and Now TV, which is owned by Sky, saw a 30% year-on-year rise in subscribers thanks to the success of the dedicated Now TV set-top box and its rebrand.

Sky Store has opened its Buy & Keep service to non-customers, means that both Sky customers and anyone accessing the Sky Store website or app will be able to use the Buy & Keep service, purchasing both a physical and digital copy of the film.

 

The service was launched for Sky customers in April last year and allows users to get a movie straight to their TV and then stream it to their mobile device as well as get a DVD of the movie.

 

It has been a big hit with customers since it was launched and is updated daily with the latest movies.

Sky have made updates to the Sky+ set top box operating system which will help make it easier to navigate and more intuitive.

 

Sky users can now enjoy a simpler to use planner. For example, your most recent downloads are now easier to find and are now situated at the top of the planner.

 

Sky have also introduced Smart Series Links which not only records the current season of a show but also records all episodes of future seasons when they come back on TV.

This is on top of the $2 million invested in August 2013.
